Tairen

Located on the southern shores of the Sea of Storms, south of Cairhein and
east of Illian is the country of Tear. Tear is a very structured society
with two classes of nobles, the lords of the land and the High Lords.
Tear is known for their quality horses, and commoners are not allowed to
own them. Nor are the commoners allowed to own or carry weapons of any
kind. The Stone of Tear is a legendary landmark, and is known as a great
fortress said to have been made after the Breaking of the World. It has
been besieged numerous times all unsuccessfully. It is prophesized that
the Stone will only fall when the Dragon returns and takes it in the night
followed by a few hundred Aiel. Tear lays on the banks of the River
Erinin just northof the delta known as the Fingers of the Dragon. Trade
and travel on the river is highly taxed and maintained by the High lords.
The larger the town the harder it is taxed all save the town of Godan
which is left alone such that it can maintain a presence over Mayene which
Tear wishes to absorb as a province. The symbol of Tear is three crescent
moons across a field of red and gold.
